DescriptionIron 32-plate suji-bachi kabuto bowl of akoda-nari form. Brass tehen with rosette, a much later replacement. Suji (flange) on each plate. Each plate decorated with floral and vine design inlaid in silver. Peak also has inlaid silver floral-vine design; red lacquered underneath. Multiple sets of holes for mounting shikoro, indicating a later remounting. Silvered haraidate-dai (crest mount). Right fukigaeshi (turnback) has been lost.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on April 20, 1931 from Fenton & Sons, Ltd. (London, England), their tag #5332RO. Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
