MarkingsBackplate is red/orange-painted within "Hr. Hoff Jäger meister von Leibnitz:" in a script of c1700; it was also once decorated on exterior with pairs of narrow lines extending down from neck & arms, converging at the waist where it is marked with punched dot.

DescriptionBackplate: 7 lb., 10 oz., also has riveted extensions at sides. There are empty holes above the waiststraps, and at the lower end of the armpit. The side holes, like those on 2014.1154, align with holes on the breast; these suggest that a hasp or other means of locking the cuirass sides together was once fitted. The culet was in place prior to the riveted extensions, but holes on the flange beneath, like those of the breastplate, indicate a different defense was once in place previously.A bolt with wingnut between the shoulders serves to secure the bracket.
