DescriptionMaroon marble torso with heavy white veins, minus the right shoulder, head, arms, and legs below the knees. Losses under left buttock. Trace of beard on chest. Chisel marks on left center of back. Strut(?) in small of back. Traces of iron pin inserted behind right shoulder and in stump of left arm. Crack runs from upper left thigh to chest.
ProvenanceDiscovered in Alexandria in 1879. Brought to U.S. by Gorringe. Museum purchase from Charles Lipson, Jamaica Plain, MA
