DescriptionEgyptian design of lotusLabel TextThe gold mount for this ancient plaquette consists of a skiff (boat) with lotus blossoms and buds in a bilateral, symmetrical arrangement. The lotus was a popular motif in Egypt and was also fashionable among revivalist jewelers. While the gold mount was made around the turn of the 20th century, the central, oval-shaped antiquity with incised decoration is nearly 4,000 years old.Provenanceformerly from the collection of Mrs. E.D.
