Label TextThe practice of making sculptor’s models such as this was popular from the 26th Dynasty through the Ptolemaic period (323-30 B.C.). Small rectangular stones were carved with various designs to serve as studio models and perhaps also as votive offerings. The raised margins along the edges indicate the required depth of the relief.
