Label Text2003-12-12: PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN Flemish Oil on wood panel Gift of Nelson Goodman, 1995.11 According to the Latin inscription at the upper left (AETATIS SUAE), this woman was 27 years old when she posed for her portrait. Although unidentified, she appears to have been of considerable wealth judging from her various pieces of jewelry and her extremely elaborate apparel, including the pearl encrusted portions of her dress and the cut velvet of her underskirt. In this well-preserved panel, one can fully appreciate the high level of craftsmanship of the artist who appears to have been of the Antwerp School. A more specific attribution is yet to be made.ProvenanceNelson Goodman, Weston, MA
