Label TextIn some parts of the Northwest Coast, women wove representational designs into their baskets. On Washington=s Olympic Peninsula, Skokomish women made twined storage baskets like this one, using decorative figures from nature or from oral tradition. The human and animal figures here appear to depict the Trickster, Eagle, and the first Skokomish people of mythology.ProvenanceDavid Hale Fanning, Worcester, MA
