Label TextKatz is a New Yorker, born, bred, and educated. However, in 1950 he attended the Skowhegan School in Maine, where he began painting from life. The artist bought an old farmhouse in Lincolnville, Maine, where he spends each summer. Katz developed a reductive style with economical lines, simple form, and flat unmodulated colors. His chief subjects are family, friends, and familiar places; this drawing represents his wife, Ada.ProvenanceSidney Rose, Worcester, MAOn View
