DescriptionIlluminated page from a book, page of text on verso 1917.185; Safavid Provincial StyleLabel TextThis is a detached folio from an unidentified manuscript of a divan (poetry collection) of Mir' Alishir Nava', written in Chagatai Turkish and attributed on a stylistic basis to a workshopin the city of shiraz. Recent scholarshiphas identified two additional pages, apparently from the same manuscript, in the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, Viriginia. The text is a hunt metaphor and refers metaphorically to "that fast, nimble rider" and "...the prey."ProvenanceR.C. & N.M. Vose, Boston MA
