Label TextSargent remained an American ex-patriot all his life, visiting the United States to undertake painting commissions. He was an enthusiastic traveler, and vacationed annually in Europe and the Middle East. His sketches document these journeys. He often traveled with his sisters, or with married artists Wilfrid de Glehn and Jane Emmet de Glehn. Summering in the cool mountains of France, Spain, or Italy, all three artists would depict one another in sketches and paintings.ProvenanceMrs. Francis Ormond and Miss Emily Sargent, London, England
