Label TextAs a teacher at the Bauhaus—the progressive German art school—Moholy-Nagy worked as a sculptor in a Russian Constructivist style. In 1937 he opened the “New Bauhaus” in Chicago (later the Institute of Design). Many of its faculty were former Bauhaus teachers and students, who aimed to perpetuate its ideals of practical industrial design. Moholy-Nagy developed this sketch into a painting, now at the Art Institute of Chicago.ProvenanceKatherine Kuh, New York, NY
