DescriptionThis Federal style tall case clock has lobed, cutout fretwork on the crown of its hood, along with three golden-plated brass Spike finials. The center finial sits on the apex of the hood while the other two are placed on graduated square plinths, each with vertical banding in the center. On the front edges of the hood, there are two fluted, free Doric columns with gold-plated brass capitals and bases. There is beveled molding on the front and sides of the hood. The dial door has a rounded arch, continuous with the hood and clock face's shapes. Here the banding appears again through the center of the dial door's frame, surrounded with burled venneer. The glass of the dial door is cracked diagonally from the proper right corner to the bottom left corner. A dancing woman in antique costume is painted onto the clock face's lunette, surrounded with painted swags. The spandrels are painted in a fan-like design with corresponding colors. There is no calendar dial. Beneath the winding hole and arbor [ - PAINTED BY/James Perrigo] is painted. Two rectangular hood lights are on either side of the hood. Beveled molding connects the hood and trunk, which has quarter columns on its edges in the same style as those on the hood. The trunk door has a flat top profile with a dial door lock, and there is banding around the edge of it as above. Beveled molding attaches the trunk to the base, the front panel of which has bookplate veneer, surrounded by the ubiquitous banding. An additional inlay of ribbon banding is along the bottom edge of the front and side surfaces. The base's veneer is chipped on the proper upper right and lower left corners. A curved apron on the base gives way to four French feet. The rear surface is not visible.
