The enlightened Buddhist monk Jialijia, popularly called Xianglong (i.e., "the lohan who subjugates a dragon"), exemplified the ability to control one's emotions and thereby the forces of nature. Jialijia is shown here enticing the dragon into submission by holding up a flaming jewel. A lion sits calmly at his side.
