Descriptionobv. head of Nero, laureate, to right, 'IMP.NERO.CLAVD.CAESAR.AVG.(GER.P.M.TR.P.P.P.)' around, ; rev. view of the temple of Janus, showing one front-a closed door with wreath hung across the top- and the left-hand side with a latticed window running across it about half-way up (door to the right), 'PACE.P.R.[TERRA.MARIQ.PARTA].IANUM.CLVIST.', around, 'S C', left and right in field, reverse inscription is partially off flan; note: the Temple of Janus was solemnly closed in A. D. 64, following the peace treaty with Parthia. The first issue of the "Janus" coins may have been designed for circulation on Jany. 1st - the Feast of Janus- A. D. 65. See RICI I, 156, footnote 1.
