These dreams placed the artist as the hero, companion or lover of beautiful women and goddesses in a floating, transcendent world. In this work Ramanujam depicts himself seated in the palm of a god, perhaps acting as, or on behalf of, Kama, the God of Love, Longings and Desires in Hindu myth. As Kama is wont to do, Ramanujam shows himself using a bow to shoot flower-tipped arrows that arouse the five senses and enchant the mind with visions of beauty.
