Searching for a new indigenous direction in the field of abstract art, Santosh sought inspiration from the esoteric diagrams, yantras and mandalas of the Tantric tradition in India. Santosh says that "painting to me is like poetry-timeless and universal." He sees his work as an attempt to express "the colorless through color, the formless through form-that we are the same people, human beings. Different in light, costume, still the same."
