Label TextThe ceramicist Yabe Makoto aimed to capture a sense of infinity in his work, and in this plate he did so in a swirling design.Born in Fukushima, Japan, Yabe began studying ceramics in Kyoto at the age of nine. He completed his training at the age of 24, after an apprenticeship with Uno Jinmatsu and Uno Sango. Beloved as a teacher, Yabe taught at many Boston area schools and universities, had several solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in New England and Japan.
