Label Text“The marvels of daily life are exciting,” Doisneau wrote, “no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street.” Doisneau began his career as an industrial photographer, but also took his camera to the Paris streets, particularly its working class suburbs. Working as a photojournalist after World War II Doisneau met the era’s celebrities, including Picasso (1881-1973). The photographer always spent time with his portrait subjects, waiting for formal distance to fade before capturing his best shots. ProvenanceG.W. Einstein Company, Inc., New York, NY
