DescriptionOf eight plates each, the upper two articulating on a single internal leather and sliding rivets on the outer edges. The attached poleyns consist of a central lame with cusped medial edges, and small oval side-wings (decorated with an etched figure of Fame), to which is fitted a strap. The two poleyn lames above and one below are cusped at the rivets as well. The terminal lame has a straight, inwardly turned edge, and is pierced with two keyhole-shaped slots for attaching the greaves. The edges of the irregularly rounded upper cuisse plate, and the side-wing are also inwardly turned, the topmost lame decorated with single file marks. The outer borders of the other two main cuisse plates are slighly embossed and decorated with closely spaced pairs of file marks. Viewed from the front, the cuisses display a decidedly concave appearance.There are some large patches on the L poleyn plates, with restored decoration.
