DescriptionVery long double-edged steel thrusting blade of triangular section. Long deep red-painted fuller on flat face of blade. Pentagonal shank with stout. Tang this fits into wooden shaft of circular section with pierced iron rounded butt cap. At top are brass & copper ferrules at base of which is socketed crossbar of flattened hexagonal section with squared terminals slightly curved towards blade. One of bars is pierced & fitted with free iron ring. Below this is black-lacquered spiral band with copper bands above & below. When removed, overall blade with tang is 56 1/4"; blade only is 27 3/4".ProvenanceCollection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
