DescriptionSteel with some brazing. Hollow tubular haft slightly tapering toward the head. Butt cap cut in radial lines creating a flower-like pattern of 16 petals. Butt cap is brazed in place, and is very well fitted; the seam appears to be at a line of brazing visible about 2 cm above the base of the weapon. Grip knurled in diamond pattern. Lanyard hole pierces shaft at top of grip. Upper shaft faceted. Head of 8 flanges, each slightly increasing in thickness toward the outer point, with slight molding at the top and bottom of the flange. Each flange brazed into a slot cut into the shaft. Surmounted by balustered knop, also brazed in place.

Some spattering of copper on the flanges and shaft, likely an artifact of the brazing of the flanges.
ProvenancePurchased by Museum on July 1, 1930 from W.O. Oldman, London, England. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
