DescriptionModel 1816. Iron. Quadrangular section thrusting spike with integral short conical socket extending down staff as langets, rounded at ends. Nailed to circular section wooden staff that is swollen at head & gently tapers to turned butt. 1 side of staff near head has inset rectangular plaque secured with copper nails & dot-punched with "31", indicating piece's gun position onboard ship.
