DescriptionOne piece skull and peak. L & R hinges don't quite match, but both look good and cheekplate interiors match the skull interior. The R cheek doesn't quite align with the skull, either due to hinge replacement or working-life compositing. There is a hole at each end of the necklame, without corresponding holes on the other plates, perhaps also suggesting a working-life alteration.Label TextThis is probably part of a group of armors made in Nuremberg during the 1500s, but decorated long after their manufacture. During the early 1600s some Nuremberg journeymen armorers proved their skill as masters not by making elements, but by decorating existing ones.ProvenancePurchased by John W.
