DescriptionSteel, with traces of black paint on exterior & red lead within. Deep facial opening having broad notch at well-rounded chin in manner associated with some armets of L 15th/E 16th c. Opening bordered by lining-rivets. Chin with deep fracture at medial area. Upper terminals are squared & pierced with later holes. Below these sides later embossed to resemble ears in high relief. At right side forward of ear is later pivot hook. Basal edge in narrow, curved flange lined with rivets. That at right terminal is slightly domed & retains fragment of gorget plate.
