DescriptionMade of relatively light metal. Pronounced catlike eye openings. Occiput well molded, gracile nasal guard. Lining holes around the perimeter.

Cheeks have been folded back at tips, with resulting loss of the tip of the left cheek. Metal has been somewhat crushed around the vertex-occiput area; this has been hammered back out and patched inside with fiberglass (?), with coloring treatment to harmonize the appearance. The lower edge has been largely lost, probably as a result of ritual bending. Two crest holes to one side of the vertex, matching holes on other side form part of an area of loss. Plugged hole above nasal, perhaps remains of a securing post for a crest.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on May 29, 1931 from E. Chachati (Paris, France), his no. 422. Given to the Museum on December 15, 1931. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, Janaury 2014.
