DescriptionAssociated with WAM 2014.757.1, for cuirassier. Steel with brass rivets & shoulder furniture. Form generally corresponding to breastplate with leather waistbelt (restored) & leather-backed double chains secured at each shoulder with a decoratively cut rectangular terminal plate with 2 keyhole-shaped slots.
ProvenanceArchduke Eugen's Armory, Fortress Hohenwerfen, Salzburg, Austria purchased by John W. Higgins on March 3, 1927 from Anderson Galleries (NY), their no. 668. Given to the Museum on December 26, 1946. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
