DescriptionBeautifully made tool of hard steel, with a fire-blued finish. Comprised of two arms operating on a pivot near the jaws. Each half is crisply formed with sharp moldings and a tapering columnar-formed handle made in two stages separated by recessed turns, and finished in a balustered tip. The jaws have a small flat surface, as well as a larger rounded one, much like modern jaw-pliers, as well as a (slightly broken) set of cutters just above the grip.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins in May, 1930, from Nicolas E. Landau (45 Av. de Friedland, Paris). Given to the Museum on 8 January 1947. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, Janaury 2014.
