DescriptionBeautifully made tool of hard steel, with a fire-blued finish. Comprised of two arms operating on a pivot near the jaws. Each half is crisply formed with sharp moldings and a tapering columnar-formed handle made in two stages separated by recessed turns, and finished in a balustered tip. The jaws have a small flat surface, as well as a larger rounded one, much like modern jaw-pliers, as well as a (slightly broken) set of cutters just above the grip.ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins in May, 1930, from Nicolas E. Landau (45 Av. de Friedland, Paris). Given to the Museum on 8 January 1947. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, Janaury 2014.
