Description1/2 side panel, 1 front panel, and 1 side panel. Dragon an breast. Darkened silver grommets for the cords.
Label TextTraditional Japanese armor consisted of small plates laced together. Such armor was effective against virtually all weapons, except firearms. Plate armor was introduced in the 1500s to deal with the new weaponry, and continued to be used in the Edo period for ceremonial purposes.ProvenanceFrom the collection of the late Sir Trevor Lawrence.
