Label TextArrows for bows are typically about a yard long, but crossbow bolts are shorter, and can be stored in a smaller quiver. This example was probably used for hunting or sport, as suggested by its pelt covering. It was worn on the belt, and its flared shape may originate from styles used in Asia. Cylindrical quivers held arrows with the head down, while this flared style stored crossbow bolts with their heads up.
