Label TextThis reinforcing plate from a jousting helmet is from a series of armors made for the Radziwiłł princes of Polish Lithuania. The Radziwiłłs maintained an extensive family armory for themselves and their private army. They were only one of many nobles served by Kolman Helmschmid, whose prestigious clientele included King Louis II of Hungary and Bohemia (1506-26), Ferdinand I (1503-64), other princes, and members of the imperial court.ProvenanceEx-collection Princes Radziwill Bashford Dean Clarence H.
