Description* Left pauldron mate to right, differing only in that it is deeper over front of armpit, and is not cut out. It too, once had mounts for an haute-piece, below the middle of which the mainlame is fitted with a threaded insert for a reinforcing-piece. (compare this, which is for Freirennen, Stechkueriss, and possibly other functions such as the Freiturnier to A.1179 at Vienna, a garniture for Maximilian II, ca. 1560; G.64 at Paris (plts. 42, and 49 of Landshuter Plattnerkunst).)ProvenanceEx-collection the duc de Noailles (France) the dealer Foury (Paris) Clarence H.
