DescriptionOf ballistic manganese steel, die-pressed; vulcanized sponge rubber; olive drab paint. 1-piece, asymetrically curving over the top of chest, with curved neck opening & depressed edge at right for shouldering rifle. Edges inwardly turned & flattened. Prolonged in pair of extensions curving over top of shoulders, & having grommeted holes for lacing to uniform "epaulettes". Base of defense with curved rubber cushion inside.ProvenancePurchased by the museum on 10 June 1940 from Russell Uniform Company (1600 Broadway, NYC).
