DescriptionMitten form of circa 1490-1510. Proper right is restored; left has been reriveted and releathered, and possibly has had thumb replaced. Consisting of seven metacarpal/phalangeal and wrist lames, with "V"-sectioned embossings and nicks at knuckles. Thumb defenses of four lames. Cuffs of moderate length, slightly flared; outer plate decorated with single indented plain inwardly rolled border. Cuffs secured on inner face by hole snapping over a peg. Inner plate of proper left gauntlet is probably associated. Metacarpal plate at knuckles is patch-repaired at index finger. Gauntlet secured by strap and buckle at wrist, and at one time, a strap across palm.
ProvenanceSir Guy F. Laking purchased in 1907 by Clarence Mackay collection (his #2, #A-38 in Gimbel sale); not in "Record of Armor Sales."
