DescriptionOf the type rotating on the gorget. 1 piece skull with sloping comb, iron plume-pipe, lacing holes to L and R of occiput. Visor, upper bevor, and bevor pivot at the ears. Visor secures with spring pin to upper bevor, released by pulling the lifting peg. The upper bevor secures on a sliding catch to the bevor at the chin. It also has a ventilation door that operated on a pull-string. The bevor secures to the skull by a spring-catch, operated by a button, and locked with a sneck-hook.

The upper bevor has a hole for bolting on the grandguard.
ProvenanceArmor was purchased by Duveen Bros. for Clarence H. Mackay, November 24, 1928, #A-51, at the American Art Association (NYC) sale of Dr. Bashford Dean's estate, listed as lot 299, plate XL. Purchased by Museum on June 1, 1942 from Gimbel Bros. (NYC). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
