DescriptionOf the type rotating on the collar. One piece skull with high comb, embossed recess to either side of comb. A plate has been riveted at the nape to provide the back half of the gutter for rotating. The face opening has been cut back at the sides. Visor with L side brow reinforce riveted in place, raised by a long lifting peg. Upper bevor without breaths, with hole for grandguard bolt on R. Restored cheekpieces hinge at ears; these have the turning-gutter embossed.Visor reinforce and upper bevor probably restored. Skull and visor probably from a field armor, could belong together.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on January 18, 1928 from Sir Joseph Duveen (NY), their no. 28258. Given to the Museum on March 21, 1928. This suit can be seen in a pre-1918 photo of the S. E. Kennedy collection in London (see Kennedy file). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
