DescriptionConsists of morion-cabasset, having unusual medallions and perhaps from Brescia, 1580-90; breastplate (Milanese, 1585-90); and pauldrons (not a pair, Milanese, 1570-80). No backplate.The terminal lame of the largely restored fauld is signed within, on the left end, reading in part "Ce (?) bande No 1/ No 3 et No 4/made. . .graving by. . .". This is so much like the other restorations present in the armor, signed by Sylvain Marchat of Paris, 1912, that they must be by the same hand.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins from Liberty & Co. (London) on May 4, 1930. Given to the Museum on December 15, 1931. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, Janaury 2014.
