A maid is greeting the guests. Hanging under the eaves are the names of the traveling parties staying at the inn. The signpost points the way to the famous Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine in Kamakura, about five miles away. In this version, it is late in the day and a male guest is dismounting after arriving at the inn.
