DescriptionTraditional Chinese robes do not have pockets so men wore purses and cases suspended from a belt or girdle. This purse was probably one of a pair. It features a crane with a pine tree which when combined symbolize longevity, as does the famous fungus of immortality (lingzhi). The grapes and vines denote the wish for many sons and wealth that will last for generations.
