Label TextThe Pomo people are often singled out as the most accomplished basket makers. Their forms are balanced and well proportioned, designs are attractive, and sewing is fine and even. Geometric ornamentation, as on this basket, is a common design feature. The Pomo lived in central California in the valleys of the Coast Range of mountains north of San Francisco.
