Cochin, like his father, was employed in Paris to make reproductions after the most distinguished artists of his time. In addition to his activities as an engraver, draftsman, and writer on the theory of art, Cochin enjoyed an illustrious public career as Secrétaire Perpétuel of the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture. This prolific and influential artist was extremely well-connected in artistic circles and received many important commissions. (source: Getty ULAN)
