In Memoriam: John O'Reilly (1930-2021)

The Worcester Art Museum mourns the passing of artist John O’Reilly, a singular presence in Worcester’s talented and diverse artistic community. John is best-known for his photomontages, which first garnered national attention at the 1995 Whitney Biennial. His work is in museum collections throughout the United States and Europe.

Over 85 works from John’s impressive career were featured in our 2017 monographic exhibition John O’Reilly: A Studio Odyssey, and in 2019 his work appeared in Photo Revolution: Andy Warhol to Cindy Sherman.

We are grateful for John’s tremendous contributions to Worcester’s art community and the legacy he leaves behind in WAM’s collection. We extend our deepest sympathy to Jim Tellin, John's partner of many years, and their friends and family.
