DescriptionHorizaontal oban (oban yoko-e)Label TextThe name of the [unknown] sage Bankitsu is here applied as a pleasantry to a high-ranking courtesan (oiran) seated beside a man. She has covered his eyes with her hands while she breathes forth his spirit which appears as a small figure floating away in a stream of vapor, to the delight of the woman and her kamuro (girl attendant).
