Label TextMarsh is the best known of a group of artists who depicted life in New York City between the World Wars. These Social Realists are often described as the “Fourteenth Street School,” since they all lived and worked in the neighborhood of the Union Square neighborhood, and studied or taught at the Art Students League. Like his colleagues Kenneth Hayes Miller, Isabel Bishop, and Guy Pène du Bois, Marsh modeled his compositions and figure styles on those of the Old Masters, Titian, Raphael, and Rubens.ProvenanceMr. and Mrs. Robert Warner, Jekyll Island, GA
