DescriptionBlue-green three dog foo climbing over rocks at sides of coupe, cover has dog foo finial. Stand.Label TextFunctional objects on the scholar's desk also served as objects of contemplation and discussion. The turquoise container is shaped like a boulder, with playful Buddhist lion-dogs (shi) symbolizing valor and energy. The lion-dog, posing on the lid with a paw on its cub, refers to a rebus conveying the wish that the son may follow in his father's footsteps and rise to the status of a high-ranking official (tai shi shao shi).
