Label TextBaskin was a remarkable art connoisseur, apart from his versatile activities as a sculptor, painter, printmaker, book-artist, and teacher. As a student at Yale he founded Gehenna Press, a private press for publishing his own hand-printed and illustrated books. This drawing dates from the early 1950s, when he taught at the School of the Worcester Art Museum as well as Smith College. It reflects his personal Expressionist-influenced style.ProvenanceMr. and Mrs. Daniel Catton Rich (?)
