Label TextAlthough erosion of the stone surface has made them less obvious, the stylistic characteristics of Ayuthya images are present in this head of a Buddha (see Head of a Crowned Buddha 1927.32). The elongated oval of the face and balanced features create a sense of serenity through perfect equilibrium. The bulging lids of the half-closed eyes and the delicately arcading eyebrows are conventional characteristics of the style.
