DescriptionFRAMEDLabel TextMartin sought a quiet purity in life parallel to the contemplative simplicity of her art. In the late 1960s she gave up television, radio, and newspapers, distancing herself from the social life that stimulated her colleagues. When her New York building was slated for demolition she moved to the country near Taos, New Mexico. There, in response to the delicate light, she adopted pastel hues for the ruled lines and austere grids of her images.ProvenanceParasol Press, Ltd., New York, NY
