Label TextSweden's leading painter at the turn of the century, Zorn traveled and painted extensively, both in Europe and the United States. This work reflects Zorn's active role in helping to preserve Sweden's folklore. The young woman is shown dressed in traditional costume, the design of which associated her with Floda, a historic town on the Dalälven River. Here Zorn shows his ability to capture the detail of the costume through brush strokes typical of his impressionistic style. This is the second painting by Zorn to enter the collection; the other Opal hangs to the left. Both paintings were brought to Worcester in the 1920s by George N. Jeppson, the father of John and Betty Jeppson. ProvenanceC.E. Fritzes Kungl, Hovbokhandel, Stockholm; George N. Jeppson, Worcester; Mrs. Betty Jeppson Green, 675 Sudbury Road, Concord, MA 01742
