Label TextIn the late 1950s Antonokos pioneered the use of neon as an artistic medium. He arranged painted forms or glowing neon tubes in geometric patterns that define spatial boundaries, and the sculpture includes the illuminated environment. His interest in the medium is purely formal. The "room" in this print, delineated by intense orange, recalls Antonakos's neon works, and spacious margins parallel the scope of the lights' illumination.ProvenanceJohn Weber Gallery, N.Y.On View
