Label TextMarden's work was often inspired by a specific place, and the time the artist spent there. The experience of living in New York left impressions of a logical, rectilinear urban environment overlayered with the chaotic hubbub of life. When Marden lived in Paris in 1965 he began to make the grid drawings that eventually led to prints like this. The rectilinear network is marred by imperfections that reflect its making.ProvenanceKathryn MorkelOn View
